Letter from Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, 1964

A letter from Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy to Audrey and George Cukor, congratulating them on My Fair Lady. George Cukor directed over sixty films, ten with Katharine Hepburn and give with Spencer Tracy. Nominated five times for the Academy Award for Best Director, Cukor won his only Best Director Oscar for My Fair Lady. Contrary to popular belief, Kate and Audrey--despite sharing the last name of Hepburn--were not related, but Kate was known to affectionately refer to Audrey as her "little daughter."

To Audrey and George,

You two certainly hit the nail on the head and took such a chance. You scared all your friends to death -- A million congratulations. It's a real triumph.

Kate and Spence
